About Preterism: The Book
After spending 15 years in the preterist movement and then leaving it in 2007 to become as Sam Frost once said; "the most hated person" by preterists, Roderick Edwards has finally produced the perfect introductory book for anyone who is interested in learning more about the movement and its concepts.
This no holds-barred, non-polemic, non-slanderous review will allow the reader to better understand how someone becomes a preterist and why. This is a must book for anyone engaging not only with preterists but in any theological discussion.
Learn about this theological perspective before it comes to your church or ministry. While it can stimulate discussion, it can also be a grave damage to any congregation. Historically, simply dismissing something like preterism as "heresy" only causes people to become more curious. Understand why and how anyone could conclude that "Jesus already came back" -- the main tenet of preterism.
Read this short, direct book by a FORMER preterist as he explains it in brutal honesty, even naming names so that you can decide best how to deal with this theological view WHEN it comes to your ministry.

Loved your book - amazon review
Truly enjoyed the book. The author shows both sides of preterism and does a very good job. He was hung up for years in the preterist movement but came to an understanding and seems to have a good balance on his faith now and has put things into perspective. Life goes on and with Christ now living in His followers means so much more than one’s eschatology ... one can jump back and forth from futurism to preterism but it is Christ living inside a believer is what changes people... nothing else matters and it all stated on the Day of Pentecost back in 30AD... Christ was living in the first generation of Christians as He still does in today’s generation... what happened in 70AD only did away with the Old Testament religion and the mystery of the gospel began in 30AD when the wall between Jew and Gentile was destroyed so anyone who calls upon the name of Jesus will be saved and He will come and sit on the thrones of our hearts and change us from within. No other religion can do that... only Jesus as King ... living within His followers... He stands at the door of our hearts knocking and those who let Him in will never be the same.

Preterism
I just read your book and everything you said about how I disagree now with my friends and have lost a few of my early Christian friends along this way , I am 73 years old Pentecostal , took care of one organised church and started a free church , I am one of the dumbest ministers I think ever was born , I went full out on Pentecostalism for 4 years teaching toungs is the sign of the filling of the holy ghost and a lot of emotion I had then I got into Holiness the dress right spit white stuff , then I got into the Faith movement had a ball believing for things and I did get a few things preaching Faith blab and grab stuff if God said I believe it thing then I had a few things happen like my son messed up and was becoming a single dad living in adultery so I stopped ministry because the Word said If you can't control your own children how are you going to take care of GODS Church so Im out , then in my late 60s I came upon Preterism got Mad and stopped reading it and everything else for 9 years then my great grandson at 1 year old got leukemia and I went on my knees for get all the stuff I read and Preached I needed comfort I don't know what anyone thinks I went to GOD now if it was THE Main GOD or one of His workers if that is even possible but I prayed He was cancer free in 5 years now I thank GOD for it but question on the timing of GOD why would a Creator make us wait that long and the worry and hardship that we had why not just heal the first time we ask I use to believe I had a direct line to God but I am kinda like Doris Day Kaysarahsarah what ever will be will be , what am I doing wrong

Preterism
Luke 24:47 and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
Do you think the "all" in the passage includes all humans on the planet? Let us ask another passage.
Acts 5:31 Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance TO ISRAEL and forgiveness of sins.
The passage in Acts 5 clearly answered Luke 24. He said forgiveness and repentance were given TO ISRAEL, not to all humans on the planet. And this includes the descendants of the tribes of Israel who were dispersed among the pagans. Let us look another passage where it says the people of Yahweh, the Israelites, were scattered abroad or to different pagan nations.
2Ch 6:25 then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of YOUR PEOPLE ISRAEL, and bring them back to the land which You gave to them and their fathers.
36“When they sin against You (for there is no one who does not sin), and You become angry with them and DELIVER THEM TO THE ENEMY, AND THEY TAKE THEM CAPTIVE to a land far or near; 37yet when they [e]come to themselves in the land where they were carried captive, and repent, and make supplication to You in the land of their captivity, saying, ‘We have sinned, we have done wrong, and have committed wickedness’; 38and when they return to You with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their captivity, where they have been carried captive, and pray toward their land which You gave to their fathers, the city which You have chosen, and toward the temple which I have built for Your name: 39then hear from heaven Your dwelling place their prayer and their supplications, and maintain their cause, and forgive Your people who have SINNED AGAINST You.
The people of Yahweh, the Israelites(not all humans), were letted to be carried captives to pagan lands because they sinned against Israel's God. They were the dispersed descendants of the tribes of Israel because they sinned or became disobedient to Israel's laws and statutes. They lived with the pagans for a long time. They were the "ALL" in Luke 24:47.
WHO NEEDED FORGIVENESS? only the people of Yahweh(the Israelites) who disobeyed his Old Covenant laws and statutes...never whole humanity.

"SPOILER ALERT: As an absolutely fascinating side note of great interest to me was Charles Guileau (the assassin of President Garfield) was a member of the Oneida Community (a full preterist commune if you will) and a full preterist. He even wrote a book called "The Truth - A Companion to the Bible" and had it with him when he shot him, in hopes that his book would become well-read due to the infamy of his act and subsequently spread the truth of full preterism. Shocking!" -- Greg
