Emmanuel Macron, celebs BUSTED sharing fake viral photos of the Amazon fires

Fri, 08/23/2019 - 22:10

You know all those photos you’re seeing of the Amazon fires? Beware of the fakes:

Stop sharing those viral photos of the Amazon burning. They’re fake.

— Mother Jones (@MotherJones) August 21, 2019

One of the major offenders flagged by Mother Jones? None other than French President Emmanuel Macron. According to Mother Jones, this photo was taken in 2003:

Our house is burning. Literally. The Amazon rain forest – the lungs which produces 20% of our planet’s oxygen – is on fire. It is an international crisis. Members of the G7 Summit, let's discuss this emergency first order in two days! #ActForTheAmazon

— Emmanuel Macron (@EmmanuelMacron) August 22, 2019

And the New York Post dinged soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo and actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Jaden Smith:

Celebs keep posting misleading photos of Amazon wildfire to social media

— New York Post (@nypost) August 23, 2019

The Amazon Rainforest produces more than 20% of the world’s oxygen and its been burning for the past 3 weeks. It’s our responsibility to help to save our planet. #prayforamazonia

Fake, but accurate as CNN’s favorite Reliable Source might say.

BREAKING: Donald Trump announces new tariffs on China

Fri, 08/23/2019 - 21:15

Breaking news out of D.C. where President Donald Trump just announced new tariffs on China in response to China implementing tariffs of its own on $75 billion worth of American goods:

BEIJING (AP) — China announces tariff hike on $75 billion of US goods in retaliation for Trump's Sept. 1 increase.

— Zeke Miller (@ZekeJMiller) August 23, 2019

From the president:

For many years China (and many other countries) has been taking advantage of the United States on Trade, Intellectual Property Theft, and much more. Our Country has been losing HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS a year to China, with no end in sight….

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 23, 2019

….Sadly, past Administrations have allowed China to get so far ahead of Fair and Balanced Trade that it has become a great burden to the American Taxpayer. As President, I can no longer allow this to happen! In the spirit of achieving Fair Trade, we must Balance this very….

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 23, 2019

…unfair Trading Relationship. China should not have put new Tariffs on 75 BILLION DOLLARS of United States product (politically motivated!). Starting on October 1st, the 250 BILLION DOLLARS of goods and products from China, currently being taxed at 25%, will be taxed at 30%…

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 23, 2019

…Additionally, the remaining 300 BILLION DOLLARS of goods and products from China, that was being taxed from September 1st at 10%, will now be taxed at 15%. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 23, 2019

It’s not yet clear how this affects Trump’s earlier announcement that tariff increase would be delayed to protect retailers at Christmas:

What about the December 15 tariffs that were meant to save Christmas?

— Alan Rappeport (@arappeport) August 23, 2019

Earlier Friday, the Dow Industrial Average fell over 600 points over the increased tension between America and China:

The Dow plunged more than 600 points after President Trump responded to China's new retaliatory tariffs impacting $75 billion worth of US goods, and criticized the US Federal Reserve

‘There is nothing amusing about this’: Donald Trump jokes that Seth Moulton tanked the stock market

Fri, 08/23/2019 - 19:45

After tanking the market with comments on China and his own hand-picked Fed chair, President Donald Trump joked that it was really combat veteran and Democrat Rep. Seth Moulton who was at fault because he dropped his presidential bid today:

The Dow is down 573 points perhaps on the news that Representative Seth Moulton, whoever that may be, has dropped out of the 2020 Presidential Race!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 23, 2019

The troll-in-chief strikes again:

Ok that's funny

— Lachlan Markay (@lachlan) August 23, 2019

If you're gonna hire a troll, at least you get the benefit of good trolling. This is good trolling.

— Dan McLaughlin (@baseballcrank) August 23, 2019

But, for the most part, the joke didn’t land well with folks from across the political spectrum:

President Donald Trump, there is nothing amusing about this. Tone Mr President. Tone.

— Carmine Sabia (@CarmineSabia) August 23, 2019

Of all the military vets turned politicians, Moulton’s service is among the most impressive and intense – Marine infantry entering Baghdad, battles of Najaf and Nasiriyah, tribal liaison during Anbar Awakening.

— Elise Jordan (@Elise_Jordan) August 23, 2019

ha ha how fun we are joking

— Josh Barro (@jbarro) August 23, 2019

I'm sure retirees love this brand of humor.

— Jonathan Capehart (@CapehartJ) August 23, 2019

How is this real life?!

Trump has lost his mind.

— Josh Jordan (@NumbersMuncher) August 23, 2019

FWIW, the Dow is about flat on the year:

This is about as funny as the fact that the Dow Jones hasn't increased at all over the past year #TrumpRecession2020

— Dana Nuccitelli (@dana1981) August 23, 2019

MSNBC host tells America how much $$ will be SAVED by spending $16 trillion on Bernie’s climate change plan as BS detectors overheat

Fri, 08/23/2019 - 17:04

Yesterday Bernie Sanders presented his big plan to help save the world from what he claims will be a fiery demise due to man-made climate change, and it’ll only cost $16 trillion. Bernie also wants to throw some Big Oil executives in prison along the way in the name of “climate justice,” but let’s get back to the price tag. Sure, $16 trillion is a lot, but MSNBC’s Ali Velshi helped Sanders pitch the proposal by saying America can’t afford not to spend the money:

MSNBC's @AliVelshi argues not enacting Bernie's $16 Trillion climate plan would be more costly

— NewsBusters (@newsbusters) August 23, 2019

During Velshi’s segment, he closed by helping Bernie sell his plan by telling viewers to “remember, when you see a big price tag on climate change, always remember there’s a price to not doing anything or to doing too little.” Here’s the segment where you’re expected to believe that dropping $16 trillion on Sanders’ grand vision will end up saving $10 trillion by the year 2100:

Bernie Sanders has unveiled his $16 trillion climate change plan.
Watch @AliVelshi break it down:

— Velshi & Ruhle (@VelshiRuhle) August 22, 2019

Oh really?

The smoke being emitted from overheating BS detectors might also contribute to climate change:

RUH-ROH! More bad news for Jussie Smollett and the prosecutors who ‘abruptly’ dropped charges against him

Fri, 08/23/2019 - 15:10

Welp, it appears a Chicago judge has questions about how quickly prosecutors dropped charges against Jussie Smollett for faking a hate crime against himself.

AP — Chicago judge names special prosecutor to investigate the dropping of charges against actor Jussie Smollett.

— Connor Ryan (@connortryan) August 23, 2019

HOO boy.

A special prosecutor has been appointed in the Jussie Smollett case

— Mark S. Getzfred (@marknyt) August 23, 2019

From the New York Times:

A judge in Chicago on Friday named a special prosecutor who will investigate how local officials handled the case against Jussie Smollett, who was accused of paying two acquaintances to attack him, making it look like a racist and homophobic hate crime.

The new special prosecutor, Dan Webb, a Republican, is a former United States attorney and worked as a special counsel in the Iran-contra affair. The announcement came two months after Judge Michael P. Toomin of Cook County ordered that a lawyer be appointed to take another look at the case. The judge was charged with finding someone to assess whether there was any misconduct in the way the case was managed and whether there is justification for renewing the prosecution of Mr. Smollett, whose felony charges were dropped in March.

Gosh, this sorta sounds like a big deal.

Attorney Dan Webb, now appointed special prosecutor in #JussieSmollett case, will ask for appointment of grand jury. @ABC7Chicago

— diane pathieu (@dianepathieu) August 23, 2019

JUST IN: A Chicago judge has named a special prosecutor to investigate why state prosecutors abruptly dropped charges against Jussie Smollett.

Homeless people in Britain call Andrew Yang’s shipping container housing solution ‘mental torture,’ ‘not for human beings’

Fri, 08/23/2019 - 00:34

A few days ago, failing presidential candidate Andrew Yang suggested that America explore using shipping containers as housing for low-income Americans:

I was in a shipping container apartment in Las Vegas that cost only $30,000 and was downright appealing. There are things we can do to make housing more affordable for many Americans.

— Andrew Yang (@AndrewYang) August 11, 2019

It’s “very comfortable,” he said:

Just visited a prototype for affordable housing units made out of shipping containers that cost about $35,000 each. Very comfortable.

— Andrew Yang (@AndrewYang) April 24, 2019

As luck would have it, Britain already uses this type of housing for homeless people. The verdict? It’s “mental torture”:

‘Living here is mental torture’

Lulu Abu Baker and her 4 children – including one with severe autism – have been living in a converted shipping container since December.

— Victoria Derbyshire (@VictoriaLIVE) August 21, 2019

And “not for human beings”:

'This is a place for animals – not for human beings.'

Lulu Akubaker tells Sky News the converted shipping container she lives in in Ealing is not fit for her family. She was offered it as temporary accommodation by the local council.

More here:

— Sky News (@SkyNews) August 21, 2019

And how does anyone “live in those kind of conditions”?

"I don't know how anyone can live in those kind of conditions."

Kai Gunner lived in temporary accommodation as a teenager. He says it's "disgusting" that families are having to live in converted shipping containers.#Sunrise

More here:

— Sky News (@SkyNews) August 21, 2019

“It’s shameful,” they said:

It's shameful that in one of the wealthiest countries children are being made to live in shipping containers. Gov needs to build more social housing, properly fund local authorities & work to ensure people are living in safe and secure housing immediately

— Diane Abbott (@HackneyAbbott) August 21, 2019

We’re sure things will be different in America though.

Raise your hand if you buy Beto O’Rourke’s account of his conversations with gun show attendees [video]

Thu, 08/22/2019 - 21:58

Don’t even let anyone tell you that Beto O’Rourke’s not willing to engage with his ideological opposition. Just look at how he goes to gun shows despite wanting to institute a mandatory gun buyback, aka confiscation, program:

At a gun show, a seller told me we need better background checks. An owner of an AK-47 told me he’d do anything to keep his kids safe. A Trump supporter told me he’s open to buybacks. We need to stop writing one another off—because only together can we end this epidemic.

— Beto O'Rourke (@BetoORourke) August 22, 2019

Was that the same gun show where he learned that “an AR-15 costs $395 for a lifetime”?

— Dodd (@Amuk3) August 22, 2019

— Clinterjack (@SNADoubleAche) August 22, 2019

This…this didn't happen.

So… You had "conversations" with gun owners and sellers at a gun show, but you have no videos of these conversations! You have a freaking video of you "changing" a tire, but not of a conversation that supports your position.

I call BS!

— Biggfootdad (@biggfootdad) August 22, 2019

Well, to be fair, Beto probably doesn’t look as manly around a bunch of dudes with guns as he does around a tire.

Though it is touching that Beto wants to work together with a bunch of racists.

Young Turk Hasan Piker accuses ‘the right’ of weaponizing his ‘imprecise language’ hailing the terrorist who maimed Dan Crenshaw and justifying 9/11

Thu, 08/22/2019 - 20:52

As Twitchy told you, Cenk Uygur’s delightful nephew Hasan Piker’s been mocking GOP Rep. Dan Crenshaw for losing an eye to an IED — and hailing the terrorist responsible as a “brave f*cking soldier.”

dan crenshaw is crying on a comedian's podcast about how not offended he was about a joke made against him almost an entire year ago. right wing victimhood is a brain disease.

— hasanabi (@hasanthehun) August 21, 2019

This afternoon, Crenshaw took Piker to task again:

The only thing that offends me is your inability to use capital letters in any of your tweets.

But really it is the fact that Google/YouTube profit from and promote The Young Turks and by extension your disgusting defense of the 9/11 terrorist attacks against Americans.

— Dan Crenshaw (@DanCrenshawTX) August 22, 2019

And Piker admitted that he was wrong and has been behaving like a soulless, morally bankrupt jackass.

Just kidding! He doubled down:

if you have a problem supporting terrorists and those who fund terrorists, why did you vote against stopping our arms sales to saudi arabia 4 times? those weapons are now literally in the hands of al qaeda. precisely the point i made in that video that cuts off right before

— hasanabi (@hasanthehun) August 22, 2019

obv i don’t support terrorism, after all i’m critcizing the american govt for supporting terrorism both leading up to, and post 911. i realize i used imprecise language that easily got weaponized by the right but spare me your moral grandstanding.

— hasanabi (@hasanthehun) August 22, 2019

“Imprecise language”? It was offensive, to be sure, there was nothing imprecise about it.

What part was imprecise? All the F bombs? The part where you called the person a brave soldier who planted the IED against Crenshaw? You’re a cancer dude. You’ve said your piece, now lay in it

— TaylorHarrellPolitics (@PoliticsTaylor) August 22, 2019

Everyone understood Hasan loud and clear:

why you making Eye patch dick Cheney mad ?

— Didarul Alam (@tonmoyalam2) August 22, 2019

Dan Crenshaw really needs to grow up. The man still goes to work dressed like a pirate.

— Emotional Support Locomotive (@MitchMcCuckold) August 22, 2019

He's just mad he lost his eye for no good reason lol

— DJ YUNG LIMEWIRE (@Yunglimewire) August 22, 2019

If you don't capitalize your letters Hasan he won't be able to see them with his one eye

— Chrispy (@chrispycrittr) August 22, 2019

That may be all that offends him,,, he's really just jealous of your depth perception. You know being able to look beyond the surface of the issues.

— OtherSideSteve (@PeoplesRepUSA) August 22, 2019

Those human puddles of gutter slime seem pretty eager to take Piker’s “weaponized” language and run with it. And that’s OK, because this is really all Crenshaw and the Right’s fault anyway. They should’ve just taken Piker’s hateful viciousness and left him alone.

Dude. Calling you out for being a radical bigot who supports terrorism isn’t moral grandstanding, it’s accurate.

— Freedom Loving American (@fromthemidwest2) August 22, 2019

You cheered on a terrorist as a hero and called 9/11 a good thing…. just because you got a call from the Armenian genocide denying uncle that pays your bills, doesnt change you exposing what you really are

— Bob Malak (@bob_malak) August 22, 2019

Hasan’s shouting his awfulness from the rooftops.

Just apologize and shut up.

— Ragu Mangu (@PaulSeward14) August 22, 2019

Can’t stop, won’t stop.

The hole you've been digging is getting deeper and deeper.

— Radix Evellere (@rootout) August 22, 2019

How much deeper can he dig it? Stay tuned and find out!

On tonight's show at 8:05PM ET we will address the offensive comments @hasanthehun made on another platform. I have always said a conversation is the appropriate way to deal with controversial comments so I will have a live discussion with him tonight.

‘I have nothing to hide’: Miley Cyrus wants to set the record straight about the end of her marriage to Liam Hemsworth

Thu, 08/22/2019 - 18:11

In case you hadn’t yet heard, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are over. Which is actually great news for Hemsworth, as Cyrus is the hottest of hot messes.

Still, though, she wants to tell explain herself:

I can accept that the life I’ve chosen means I must live completely open and transparent with my fans who I love, and the public, 100% of the time. What I cannot accept is being told I’m lying to cover up a crime I haven’t committed. I have nothing to hide.

— Miley Ray Cyrus (@MileyCyrus) August 22, 2019

It is no secret that I was into partying in my teens and early 20’s. I have not only smoked, but advocated for weed, I’ve experimented with drugs, my biggest song to date is about dancing on molly and snorting lines in the bathroom.

— Miley Ray Cyrus (@MileyCyrus) August 22, 2019

I lost a massive Walmart deal at 17 for ripping a bong.

— Miley Ray Cyrus (@MileyCyrus) August 22, 2019

I got kicked off hotel Transylvania for buying Liam a penis cake for his birthday and licking it.

— Miley Ray Cyrus (@MileyCyrus) August 22, 2019

I swung on a wrecking ball naked.

— Miley Ray Cyrus (@MileyCyrus) August 22, 2019

There are probably more nudes of me on the internet than maybe any woman in history.

— Miley Ray Cyrus (@MileyCyrus) August 22, 2019

But the truth is, once Liam & I reconciled,I meant it, & I was committed. There are NO secrets to uncover here. I’ve learned from every experience in my life. I’m not perfect, I don’t want to be, it’s boring. I’ve grown up in front of you, but the bottom line is, I HAVE GROWN UP.

— Miley Ray Cyrus (@MileyCyrus) August 22, 2019

I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before & it remains true, I love Liam and always will.

— Miley Ray Cyrus (@MileyCyrus) August 22, 2019

BUT at this point I had to make a healthy decision for myself to leave a previous life behind. I am the healthiest and happiest I have been in a long time. You can say I am a twerking, pot smoking , foul mouthed hillbilly but I am not a liar.

— Miley Ray Cyrus (@MileyCyrus) August 22, 2019

I am proud to say, I am simply in a different place from where i was when I was a younger.

— Miley Ray Cyrus (@MileyCyrus) August 22, 2019

Donald Trump clarifies his remarks about Democrat-supporting Jews’ ‘great disloyalty’ [video]

Wed, 08/21/2019 - 16:29

Just what sort of “great disloyalty” was Donald Trump referring to yesterday when he made his insane suggestion that Jews who vote Democrat are guilty of “great disloyalty,”? The Republican Jewish Coalition, for what it’s worth, was pretty sure they knew and that it was no big deal:

President Trump is right, it shows a great deal of disloyalty to oneself to defend a party that protects/emboldens people that hate you for your religion. The @GOP, when rarely confronted w/anti-Semitism of elected members always acts swiftly and decisively to punish and remove.

— RJC (@RJC) August 20, 2019

OK, guys.

Lmao this is such a bad tweet. Have you lost your minds? Why make excuses? Also, LOL at saying GOP acts swiftly IN THIS SAME TWEET, you maniacs

— Seth Mandel (@SethAMandel) August 20, 2019

Memo to RJC and anyone else who needs to hear this: Every single time Trump says something that *sounds pretty bigoted* his defenders choose the non-bigoted interpretation and then he always–always, always, always–cuts you down from that limb. Why haven't you learned?

— Seth Mandel (@SethAMandel) August 20, 2019

They really should’ve learned. Because after having a night to sleep on it, Donald Trump has clarified what he said:

Trump tells reporters: "If you vote for a Democrat, you’re being disloyal to Jewish people and you’re being very disloyal to Israel." via @Jordanfabian

— Jennifer Epstein (@jeneps) August 21, 2019

Well, there it is, clarified. "If you vote for a Democrat, you're very, very disloyal to Israel."

— Timothy Burke (@bubbaprog) August 21, 2019

Oh, well. If that’s what he meant … then it’s basically as awful as we thought.

Oh, well thanks for clearing that up. For a second I thought maybe he WASN'T being grossly anti-Semitic.

— Concerned Citizen (@politicsbos) August 21, 2019

You might not be surprised to know that Bill Nye is still sounding the alarm about man-made climate change, and he’s getting increasingly frustrated that you’re not listening to his warnings even though you might have been amazed by the missions to the moon… or something:

"It is infuriating to have people in the United States denying science. The same country that sent people to the moon, for crying out loud," Bill Nye says. "Humans are causing climate change. Pretending it's not happening is not in anyone's best interest"

The pro-immigration group ‘Families Belong Together’ is very angry at the new DHS Flores ruling that will keep families together

Wed, 08/21/2019 - 16:09

Acting DHS Secretary Kevin McAleenan announced this morning that the Trump administration is changing the Flores settlement, a decade’s old rule that forced the government to release children who had crossed the border illegally with their parents after 20 days in custody:

It's official: Kevin McAleenan, acting secretary of homeland security, just announced that the Trump administration now will use a new immigration rule that would allow it to detain immigrant families who cross the border illegally indefinitely, replacing the Flores settlement.

— Yamiche Alcindor (@Yamiche) August 21, 2019

Now, when a child comes across the border with a family member, the entire family can be held together, thus ending family separations:

(1/5) Today, @DHSgov & @HHSgov have issued the “Flores Final Rule”, which allows DHS to keep families together during fair and expeditious immigration proceedings, and eliminates a key incentive that encourages traffickers to exploit children.

— Acting Sec. Kevin McAleenan (@DHSMcAleenan) August 21, 2019

(2/5) Today’s action addresses a court-imposed weakness in immigration law that prevented DHS from detaining a family together for more than 20 days and codifies critical commitments on the conditions for children in Federal care.

— Acting Sec. Kevin McAleenan (@DHSMcAleenan) August 21, 2019

(3/5) It will help address the dramatic 469% increase this year from the record number of family units apprehended in FY18. The incentive to cross the
border illegally with a vulnerable child must come to an end.

— Acting Sec. Kevin McAleenan (@DHSMcAleenan) August 21, 2019

(4/5) This rule implements the commitments of the Flores settlement. While we continue to seek legislative solutions, we must take administrative action to address the ongoing security and humanitarian crisis.

— Acting Sec. Kevin McAleenan (@DHSMcAleenan) August 21, 2019

(5/5) Keeping families together during immigration proceedings, & ensuring that asylum seekers w/ meritorious claims get resolution, are important steps to enhance the integrity of the system & extend protections to those that need them. See more here:

— Acting Sec. Kevin McAleenan (@DHSMcAleenan) August 21, 2019

President Trump’s goal here is to end catch-and-release:

Brandon Judd, President, National Border Patrol Council. “This will effectively end Catch and Release and curb illegal entries.”

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) August 21, 2019

But there is an open question on just where these families will be detained as the current (overwhelmed) system isn’t designed for it:

First the basics:
DHS (Homeland Sec) houses detained adult and family migrants.
HHS (Health&Human Services) houses migrant children who are *alone*. That does include a few who are separated, but mostly kids/teens who come here by themselves. 2/

— Tal Kopan (@TalKopan) August 21, 2019

Of course, libs will challenge this:

The Trump Administration is trying to "withdraw" from the Flores Settlement, which requires humane treatment of children in custody.

It's a court order. The Trump Administration can't just "withdraw" from it. This is illegal, inhumane, and disturbing.

— Rep. Val Demings (@RepValDemings) August 21, 2019

Groups such as “Families Belong Together” is quite mad that the administration will now keep families together:

If the Trump administration succeeds in terminating the Flores child protections, officials will be able to keep children in brutal conditions and jail migrants indefinitely. Children and families will continue to be abused and traumatized.

— Families Belong Together (@fams2gether) August 21, 2019

As we know, conditions in detention camps are horrific; there are constant reports of abuse, and there is countless evidence of trauma. The least we can do is keep these protections in place so children get proper care in custody.

— Families Belong Together (@fams2gether) August 21, 2019

Overall, this is just the latest example of how the Trump administration continues to manipulate the law and violate human rights. The bottom line is that migrant children DO NOT belong in detention and the camps need to be closed down immediately.

— Families Belong Together (@fams2gether) August 21, 2019

When the “open borders” facade is lifted, this is what you see.

Unhinged Peter Beinart stoops to ‘disgusting’ lows to defend Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib’s anti-Semitism; Rich Lowry schools [video]

Mon, 08/19/2019 - 21:24

As Twitchy told you, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib held a press conference this afternoon, where they quadrupled down on their anti-Israel, anti-Semitic smear campaign. Most of the media don’t seem terribly interested in debunking the long list of lies, but CNN did manage to trot out professional left-wing-anti-Semitism apologist Peter Beinart to weigh in on everything:

Video: Here's half of that absolutely bonkers meltdown by Peter Beinart after Rich Lowry calmly schools him on why it's not such a great idea to defend an organization that's actually pushed blood libel (among other hateful, ugly things). Beinart lost it and it was not pretty

— Curtis Houck (@CurtisHouck) August 19, 2019

CNN's Peter Beinart defends Palestinians who commit terrorism against Israel: “A lot of Palestinians believe that because they are subject to daily violence of a system which denies them basic rights they have the right to respond violently”

— Ryan Saavedra (@RealSaavedra) August 19, 2019

Channeling AOC by suggesting that Palestinian terrorists have no choice but to respond with violence is a really good look.

Of course.

— David Harsanyi (@davidharsanyi) August 19, 2019

— Ben Domenech (@bdomenech) August 19, 2019

Beinart is garbage.

— RBe (@RBPundit) August 19, 2019

It is like he is reading straight from Hamas manifesto…. @Benshapiro said it best…. Hamas cheers every time Peter is on television

— Bob Malak (@bob_malak) August 19, 2019

And why wouldn’t they? They’ve got to love it when a far-leftist talking head with a conditional respect for Judaism comes on to bash Israel and defend blatant anti-Semitism.

.@PeterBeinart on @CNN basically: Palestinians have a right to be antisemites

— The Reagan Battalion (@ReaganBattalion) August 19, 2019

Beinart excusing murdering children on school buses.

— Fusilli Spock (@awstar11) August 19, 2019

CNN anchor asks Beinart about Miftah's antisemitism. Beinart responds "Palestinians don't have to be saints" in order to get "the same rights" as the rest of us.

Amazing. Simply amazing.

— Seth Mandel (@SethAMandel) August 19, 2019

Miftah: Jewish control of media elevates black ppl and is bad for white ppl so they must be destroyed. Also Jews put Christian blood on their matza.

Peter Beinart: Look, nobody's perfect.

— Seth Mandel (@SethAMandel) August 19, 2019

All we can say is God bless Rich Lowry. It can’t be easy to sit there and try to refute Beinart’s unhinged arguments knowing that most of the media are ultimately rooting against you.

Thankfully @RichLowry is there to add some sanity: Tells Beinart you can criticize Israel without glorifying terrorists.

Asks Beinart if that's his standard for working with white nationalists.

Beinart has no response but to yell at Rich, who's speaking calmly.

— Seth Mandel (@SethAMandel) August 19, 2019

"Hanan Ashrawi has dedicate her life to nonviolent activism."–Beinart.

Beinart is acting psychotically here, and Lowry is a saint. Amazing.

— Seth Mandel (@SethAMandel) August 19, 2019

Kudos to @RichLowry, who made Peter Beinart look like a complete fool and jackass. Or would have if Beinart weren’t already.

Elizabeth Warren’s heritage shenanigans appear to be wearing thin with some actual Native Americans [video]

Mon, 08/19/2019 - 18:04

Elizabeth Warren — with the media’s help, of course — is trying to have her cake and eat it, too, when it comes to her heritage. But from the looks of things, plenty of Native Americans have lost their appetites:

Moderator Shocked by Lack of Native American Enthusiasm for Warren

— Free Beacon (@FreeBeacon) August 19, 2019

More from the Washington Free Beacon:

The moderator at a Native American forum was shocked on Monday after Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) received very little enthusiasm about her potential election.

Warren participated in the presidential forum on Native American issues in Sioux, City, IA, where she apologized for the “harm” she caused for her past claims of Native American ancestry.

“It’s a wonderful day and Native Americans across this country should celebrate. Today we’re sharing the stage with a future president perhaps,” the moderator said.

Here’s the cringey video (via the Washington Free Beacon):

The moderator at the Native American Forum in Iowa today had to ask the crowd to applaud after he suggested the Elizabeth Warren could be the next President.

— Francis Brennan (@FrancisBrennan) August 19, 2019

That must have been awkward. Keep pushing the lie I guess?

— Cornmill Intel (@Clint49127635) August 19, 2019

If you thought that was bad, there’s still more where that came from.

Warren still says she’s a Native American (she’s not), but also hastens to add that she’s not a person of color. Are (actual) Native Americans NOT people of color?

— Guy Benson (@guypbenson) August 19, 2019

At least some actual Native Americans are not amused by Warren’s shenanigans. Get a load of what one woman had to say about her performance:

Attendees at the Native American Forum aren't having it:

"How can she say she's not a [woman of color] when she just took a DNA test stating she is?"

— Michael Ahrens (@michael_ahrens) August 19, 2019

It’s almost as if they don’t accept her as one of their own.

— russ strickland (@nsrrder13) August 19, 2019

‘Seems newsy, even fire-fightery’! Hey, why did Elizabeth Warren’s campaign try to flush this down the memory hole?

Will AOC, Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar boycott trips to the West Bank over THIS?!

Sun, 08/18/2019 - 23:17

Since travel to the West Bank is in the news, shouldn’t this be getting attention?

Palestinian Authority bans LGBT activities in West Bank.
The ban came after LGBT group Al-Qaws was planing to hold a gathering for its members in Nablus. By @KhaledAbuToameh @Jerusalem_Post cc: @ronzheimer @PeterTatchell @PaulSchindler @GayCityNews

— Benjamin Weinthal (@BenWeinthal) August 18, 2019

So, when will AOC and The Squad hold a press conference to call this out?

Waiting for the joint @IlhanMN@RashidaTlaib statement that will never come calling for a boycott…..

— Adam Kredo (@Kredo0) August 18, 2019

Time for a boycott!

Boy just wait until AOC and the Squad hear about this — I bet they're going to demand a boycott of Palestine!

Ha ha ha just kidding, they're not going to say a word.

— Noah Pollak (@NoahPollak) August 18, 2019

And here’s a friendly reminder about how LGBT folks are treated in Israel:

Tel Aviv Pride is huge. Gigantic actually. I am so thankful Israel stands firmly for LGBT rights in a region that doesn’t.

‘Find the motherf***ers who would do this’: GoFundMe set up after Antonio Basco’s car stolen hours after his wife’s funeral in El Paso

Sun, 08/18/2019 - 21:41

Antonio Basco, whose wife, Margie, was killed in the El Paso shooting earlier this month, had his car stolen and vandalized just hours after his wife’s funeral:

BREAKING from KVIA TV in El Paso: Antonio Basco, who, 24hrs ago, buried his shooting victim wife, Margie, surrounded by thousands of strangers who showed up to console him, just had his car stolen & damaged in an apparent case of theft and vandalism

— David Begnaud (@DavidBegnaud) August 18, 2019

Thousands of people attended the funeral after Mr. Basco invited the community to help him honor his wife:

This is how Antonio Basco was greeted as he made his way into his wife’s memorial “We are your family sir… We’re your family.” #ElPasoStrong

— Gadi Schwartz (@GadiNBC) August 17, 2019

The theft was first reported on Facebook by Vanessa Kondow whose husband towed his car after it was found damaged. (And we agree 100% with her last line, “Find the motherf***ers who would do this”):

Mr. Basco had been living in his car after the shooting until supporters helped him get a hotel room:

Antonio Basco hasn't left Walmart since his wife, Margie Reckard, died. He'd been living out of his car, which had broken A/C, and sleeping on the ground next to her cross to clean off the dead flowers in the am. El Paso rallied: fixed his car, got him a hotel, brought him food

— Brianna Sacks (@bri_sacks) August 14, 2019

This is just awful to read:

El Paso will take care of Mr. Basco. But, damn. 2/

— Bob Moore (@BobMooreNews) August 18, 2019

A GoFunMe has been set up to help Mr. Basco recover from all of this:

Catch and release (with a misdemeanor): THIS is why gun crime is so bad in Chicago

Sun, 08/18/2019 - 21:17

Back in 2012, the WSJ ran this op-ed based on an interview with former NYPD Commissioner William Bratton where he talked about the “certainty of punishment” as being necessary to cure gun violence:

In Chicago, where the murder rate rose 16% last year, “to try to put someone in jail for gun-related activity you really have to go the extra mile,” he says. “If there’s one crime for which there has to be a certainty of punishment, it is gun violence.” He ticks off other places where help is needed: “Oakland, Chicago, D.C., Baltimore—all have gangs whose members have no capacity for caring about life and respect for life. Someone like that? Put ’em in jail. Get ’em off the streets. Keep people safe.”

And here we are 7 years later and . . . nothing has changed in Chicago. Via Chicago Police spox Anthony Guglielmi:

Is this the Chicago you want? For $500, you could walk out of jail after being arrested for possession of this arsenal. James Mather was charged with felony gun possession & 5 misdemeanor counts of unlawful use of a weapon. @CWBChicago has the story here.

— Anthony Guglielmi (@AJGuglielmi) August 16, 2019

Use a gun, go to jail. And then leave jail with only a misdemeanor charge:

How does Chicago have some of the nation’s strictest gun laws and some of the nation’s highest rates of gun crime, you ask…?

— Emily “Al Fredo” Zanotti (@emzanotti) August 16, 2019

And that dude wasn’t even the worst one in the article:

All of these charges are possessory offenses, unlike the guy further down in the @CWBChicago story who actually fired shots during a fight and had six felonies dropped in exchange for a guilty plea to a single misdemeanor.

— Cam Edwards (@CamEdwards) August 16, 2019

So, will Chicago prosecutors charge these guys with a misdemeanor, too?

Also from the 5th dist, these assault style weapons were recovered by police in the vicinity of South Peoria. People of interest are in custody for questioning. Investigation ongoing.

— Anthony Guglielmi (@AJGuglielmi) August 11, 2019

Please do read the entire thing here from CWB Chicago. It’s eye-opening, to say the least.

Brit Hume serves up a truth bomb that’s made in the USA to dismantle Beto O’Rourke’s shameful race-baiting comments

Sun, 08/18/2019 - 20:58

As we suffered through earlier, Beto O’Rourke says the United States was founded upon racism and is still racist today, a statement to which he has received a lot of backlash.

This is the strategy, huh: Beto O’Rourke says ‘no denying’ America was ‘founded on racism and is still racist today’

— Twitchy Team (@TwitchyTeam) August 18, 2019

One of the pushback responses came from Fox News political analyst Brit Hume, who succinctly dismantled O’Rourke’s shameful remarks as only he can.

In fact, no country on earth has done more to overcome racial prejudice both in law and practice. Indeed, racism today is nearly universally rejected in America, which is why the left tries so hard to pin the label on its political opponents.

‘Let’s not be afraid of optimism’: Larry Kudlow explains why he doesn’t see a recession on the horizon this time

Sun, 08/18/2019 - 20:28

Larry Kudlow, the director of the National Economic Council for President Donald Trump’s White House, told NBC’s Chuck Todd on Sunday that despite fears from some economists, he does not see a recession on the horizon for the U.S. economy.

To back up his point, Kudlow pointed to retail sales consumer numbers toward the end of this past week, which he calls “blockbuster.” He also said that most economists shifted their forecasts for the third and fourth quarters up toward the end of the week.

Kudlow: "I sure don't see a recession. … Let's not be afraid of optimism."

— Meet the Press (@MeetThePress) August 18, 2019

More from Kudlow:

“Consumers are working at higher wages. They are spending at a rapid pace. They’re also saving while they’re spending; that’s an ideal situation, so I think actually the second half of the economy’s going to be very good in 2019. No I don’t see a recession.”

“Let me add just one theme … we’re doing pretty darn well in my judgment. Let’s not be afraid of optimism.”

Some counter that Kudlow got it wrong ahead of the 2007-08 recession.

uh oh

— Igor Bobic (@igorbobic) August 18, 2019

Larry Kudlow, Dec. 2007:

“Despite all the doom and gloom from the economic pessimistas, the resilient U.S. economy continues moving ahead.”

“There’s no recession coming.”

— Aaron Blake (@AaronBlake) August 18, 2019

Kudlow admits that he got it wrong then but says “this is not then.”

Chuck Todd reads Larry Kudlow his own quote from December 2007:

"There's no recession coming. The pessimistas were wrong. It's not going to happen. … The Bush boom is alive and well. It's finishing up its sixth consecutive year with more to come."

— Axios (@axios) August 18, 2019

Much has been made about the inversion of the Treasure yield curve (for the first time in 12 years), but historical data shows that it is not always a guarantee that a recession is imminent.

Fact: Every U.S. recession since the 1960s was preceded by a year or so by an inversion of the Treasury yield curve.

Not a fact: Because the yield curve inverted, the next recession must be on the way via @bopinion

— Bloomberg (@business) August 18, 2019

Another White House adviser, Peter Navarro, says we technically did not have an inversion but a “flat curve,” adding that it indicates economic strength.

White House Trade Adviser Peter Navarro: "Technically we did not have a yield curve inversion…In this case the flat curve is the result of a very strong Trump economy."

No big deal, just a simulated assassination of President Trump at a fundraiser for an Illinois Dem

Sun, 08/18/2019 - 19:59

Check out these photos of an attendee at a fundraiser for Democratic Illinois State Sen. Martin Sandoval simulating an assassination of President Donald Trump:

A political fundraiser for @SenatorSandoval simulates an assassination attempt against a mock @realDonaldTrump decked out in Mexican garb. Looks like a man pointed a fake assault weapon at the fake President to pose for a picture.

— Mark Maxwell (@MarkMaxwellTV) August 17, 2019

Wow. Remember when a rodeo clown got fired for wearing an Obama mask? Times sure have changed!

Rodeo clown who mocked Obama banned from Missouri State Fair: -CC

— The Associated Press (@AP) August 12, 2013

Sen. Sandoval has since apologized and said he doesn’t “condone violence toward the President or anyone else”:

Response from @SenatorSandoval: “The incident that took place is unacceptable. I don’t condone violence toward the President or anyone else. I apologize that something like this happened at my event.”

— Mark Maxwell (@MarkMaxwellTV) August 18, 2019

As has the Democratic party of Illinois:

Now @DemsforIllinois responds: “The tragedies in El Paso and Gilroy have demonstrated how hate-filled political rhetoric can fuel violence. These images are unacceptable and dangerous. The place to make our voices heard against Trump is at the ballot box.”

— Mark Maxwell (@MarkMaxwellTV) August 18, 2019

And the state’s Dem governor:

From @GovPritzker: “As our nation grapples with the epidemic of gun violence, purposely pointing a fake gun at anyone is insensitive and wrong. I condemn actions like the ones displayed in the pictures because they lack the civility our politics demands.”

— Mark Maxwell (@MarkMaxwellTV) August 17, 2019
