Pompeo nomination clears hurdle after another late GOP switch

JamieDupree - Tue, 04/24/2018 - 02:12

For the second time in a week, late decisions by a pair of GOP Senators provided the margin of victory for a nominee of President Donald Trump, as after fears of a rare confirmation rebuke, Republicans on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Monday got in line behind the nomination of Mike Pompeo to be Secretary of State, setting up a vote later this week for his confirmation in the full Senate.

The key votes were delivered by Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) – who last week made a late switch to help salvage the nomination of Mr. Trump’s choice to run NASA – and by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who had talked for weeks that he would never vote to shift the CIA Director over to the post of Secretary of State.

But after a late lobbying effort by President Trump, Paul stuck with the White House on Pompeo.

Per source w/ knowledge: @POTUS called @RandPaul multiple times today.

This may be the clearest personal role @POTUS
has had in changing the outcome of a vote.

— Lisa Desjardins (@LisaDNews) April 23, 2018

“I have changed my mind,” Paul said at a meeting of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

Back in March when the President fired Rex Tillerson from the Secretary of State’s job, Paul had made clear he was not going to vote for Pompeo, worried the CIA chief was too set on excessively using U.S. military force around the world.

Labeling Pompeo a “neocon,” Paul had said at the time that he would not vote for the CIA chief, worried that Pompeo was too much like the Republican Party that strongly backed with war in Iraq on Saddam Hussein.

“I simply cannot support Pompeo’s nomination to be our chief diplomat,” the Kentucky Republican made clear.

But after talks with Pompeo and the President, Paul gave in.

The late changes saved the GOP from an embarrassing foreign policy setback for the President – at a time when he is hosting the French President, and will later in the week receive the German Chancellor.

“He is extremely qualified for the position,” the President’s Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders argued for Pompeo, as she joined GOP Senators in reminding Democrats of the bipartisan votes for past Secretaries of State.

“John Kerry was confirmed 94-3. Hillary Clinton was confirmed 94-2. Condoleezza Rice was confirmed 85-13. Colin Powell was confirmed unanimously by voice vote,” Sanders told reporters.

The turn of events came hours after the President had blasted Democrats for delaying many of his nominees, by stretching out debate time on the Senate floor, leaving little time for work on legislation.

Hard to believe Obstructionists May vote against Mike Pompeo for Secretary of State. The Dems will not approve hundreds of good people, including the Ambassador to Germany. They are maxing out the time on approval process for all, never happened before. Need more Republicans!

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 23, 2018

While the President accurately nicked the Democrats for slow-walking many nominations on the Senate floor, certain high-profile choices like Pompeo, Jim Bridenstine for NASA, and Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell have been held up in the Senate not because of Democrats – but because of a lack of unity among Republicans.

For example, Grenell’s nomination was sent to the Senate floor back on January 18. While Democrats did object to action in March, there has been no effort by Senate Republicans to hold a vote – which likely means there aren’t fifty votes for his nomination.

When Monday began, that was in question for Pompeo as well, but the support of Paul, Flake, and a handful of Democrats, means the President will get his Secretary of State.

“The President deserves to have a Secretary of State that agrees with him or her, in general, on a foreign policy direction,” said Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), as he argued for Pompeo’s approval.

There was a bit of irony, as Rubio last week had been one of the holdouts on the President choice to run NASA – a reminder, that with a 51-49 advantage in the Senate, and the absence of Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), Republicans can’t afford to lose more than one vote on anything in the U.S. Senate.

Jim Bridenstine sworn in as new Administrator of NASA

JamieDupree - Mon, 04/23/2018 - 19:08

Ending almost fourteen months of temporary leadership at NASA, Republican Congressman Jim Bridenstine of Oklahoma was sworn in Monday afternoon as the new leader of the space agency, as Trump Administration officials vow that Bridenstine will help revive manned space exploration efforts by the United States.

After taking the oath – with his wife and three children at his side – Bridenstine told NASA employees that he was committed to seeing that the U.S. remains the world’s leader in space.

“I will do my best to serve our storied agency to the utmost of my abilities, as we reach for new heights, as we reveal the unknown for the benefit for human kind,” Bridenstine said.

“NASA represents what is best about the United States of America,” Bridenstine added.

“We lead, we discover, we pioneer and we inspire. I look forward to our journey together.”

“It’s an important moment in the life of this agency,” said Vice President Mike Pence, who trekked over to NASA Headquarters for the swearing-in, again saying that President Trump is strongly behind a forward-looking NASA.

“We will send American astronauts back to the moon,” Pence said,’ vowing that the Trump Administration will lay the groundwork for travels to Mars.

“And NASA will lead the way,” the Vice President said to applause.

Bridenstine’s nomination was bitterly opposed by many Democrats in the Congress, who bristled at his conservative political views, and questioned his lack of space expertise, which also gave a handful of GOP Senators second thoughts.

But after months of delay, the White House was able to convince Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) to vote for Bridenstine, pushing him over the top to a bare majority confirmation vote of 50-49 last week.

Bridenstine inherits an agency which just saw a big boost in its budget courtesy of a recent spending deal in the Congress, as NASA for the first time now has a yearly budget of over $20 billion.

.@Space_Station #Expedition55 crew talking to NASA's new Administrator, James Bridenstine; .@VP saying "thank you for your service in space you have our prayers and gratitude. "

— Gene J. Mikulka (@genejm29) April 23, 2018

“He will be an excellent leader,” said Rep. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who was one of a handful of lawmakers there for the ceremony.

After the swearing-in and Bridenstine’s remarks, NASA then checked in by video relay with several astronauts aboard the International Space Station.

“I thank you for being part of the vanguard in space,” said the Vice President.

15 Facts About the Democrats’ Mysterious Pakistani IT Staffers You’ll Never See in Legacy Media

DougRoss - Mon, 04/23/2018 - 00:55
By Luke Rosiak

Just heard the Campaign was sued by the Obstructionist Democrats. This can be good news in that we will now counter for the DNC Server that they refused to give to the FBI, the Debbie Wasserman Schultz Servers and Documents held by the Pakistani mystery man and Clinton Emails.

— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 20, 2018

The “Pakistani Mystery Man” is Imran Awan, who worked as Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s email server administrator in the House of Representatives. Nearly his entire family then joined the payroll of other Democrats, until they worked for 1 in 5 House Democrats and had — as the House inspector general called it — the ‘keys to the kingdom‘ and ability to access any file.

1. Imran worked for Debbie Wasserman Schultz since 2004 and had the passwords to her devices

A search of his name on WikiLeaks shows the DNC summoned Imran when they needed her device unlocked.

2. During the 2016 election, the House’s Office of Inspector General warned that Imran and his family were making “unauthorized access” to data

A September 30, 2016, presentation alleged Imran Awan and his family members were logging into the servers of members who had previously fired him, funneling data off the network, and that evidence “suggests steps are being taken to conceal their activity.”

The Awan group’s behavior mirrored a “classic method for insiders to exfiltrate data from an organization,” the briefing materials allege. The presentation especially found problems on one server: that of the House Democratic Caucus, an entity similar to the DNC that was chaired at the time by then-Rep. Xavier Becerra.

3. The Awan group was left on the House computer network until February 2, 2017 — days after Donald Trump’s inauguration

Police then banned the Awan group from the network. The Committee on House Administration put out a statement saying “House Officials became aware of suspicious activity and alleged theft committed by certain House IT support staff.” Since then, no official body has ever publicly provided any information about the case. But the IG report, obtained by TheDCNF, shows that theft was not the primary issue being warned about.

4. Shortly after the IG report came out in September 2016, the Caucus server — identified as prime evidence in the cybersecurity case — physically disappeared

Authorities took the disappearance as evidence tampering, they said. Becerra said he won’t discuss the incident because of an ongoing criminal investigation.

5. Wasserman Schultz declined to fire Imran despite knowing he was suspected of cyber-security violations, even though she had just lost her job as DNC chair after its anemic handling of its data breach

Her office claimed Imran could work on “websites and printers” without accessing the network. Watchdog group FACT has filed an ethics complaint saying this was impossible, and a cybersecurity publication called the judgment negligent.

6. After Imran was banned from the network, he left a laptop with the username RepDWS in a phone booth

along with a letter to prosecutors and a copy of his ID. Capitol Police found the laptop at midnight and seized it because they recognized Imran as a criminal suspect. Wasserman Schultz still didn’t fire Imran. Instead, she threatened Capitol Police Chief Matthew R. Verderosa with “consequences” if he didn’t give it back, implying it was “a member’s laptop.” The police chief refused.

She hired a lawyer to block prosecutors from examining the laptop, then later said, “This was not my laptop. I have never seen that laptop.” Imran’s lawyer then said he “very strongly” believes the laptop cannot be examined because of “attorney-client privilege.” Imran left a note with that phrase near the backpack.

7. The FBI began surveiling the family but let Imran’s wife, Hina Alvi, leave the country

She flew to Pakistan with cardboard boxes of possessions, FBI agents said in an affidavit. They approached her at the airport, but she refused to talk to them. They found $12,000 in cash but let her board anyway, writing they do “not believe that Alvi has any intention to return to the United States.”

8. Prosecutors arrested Imran at the airport after he began liquidating assets

Imran and his wife had wired $300,000 to Pakistan after allegedly both cashing out a federal retirement account and taking a second mortgage under allegedly false pretenses. The FBI arrested Imran at the airport, and he was charged with bank fraud. Democrats have claimed the case is therefore about bank fraud, but prosecutors imply in court papers the bank fraud occurred because The Awans learned they were under investigation for other activities. “Based on the suspicious timing of that transaction, Awan and Alvi likely knew they were under investigation at that time,” prosecutors wrote of the money moves.

Imran’s lawyer is a former aide to Bill and Hillary Clinton, and Wasserman Schultz’s brother is an attorney at the same prosecutor’s office that is handling the case, the US Attorney for the District of Columbia.

9. A former business partner of Imran’s father says the father handed over USBs of data to a Pakistani official and that Imran claimed he power to ‘change the US president’

The FBI never interviewed the business partner. TheDCNF traveled in Pakistan where numerous locals alleged that Imran traveled that country with an entourage of Pakistani government agents, and routinely boasted about mysterious political influence.

10. Nearly Imran’s entire family was on the House payroll at high salaries, despite most of them having no training in IT — Democrats failed to vet them

All 44 of their House employers exempted them from background checks despite the House policy encouraging checks.

Among the red flags in Imran’s brother’s Abid’s background were a $1.1 million bankruptcy; six lawsuits against him or a company he owned; and at least three misdemeanor convictions.

11. House Dems Hired A Fired McDonald’s Worker As E-mail Administrator

Rao Abbas was added to Reps. Emanuel Cleaver and Ted Deutch’s payroll shortly after court paperwork showed Abid owed him money.

12. Money from an Iraqi political figure

Imran and Abid operated a car dealership referred to as CIA that took $100,000 from an Iraqi government official who is a fugitive from U.S. authorities, according to a business partner’s testimony in a civil lawsuit.

After Imran was banned from the House network, an email address that belonged to him, [email protected], appeared to still be active and invoked the name of a “national security and foreign affairs” specialist for Rep. Andre Carson, an intelligence committee member.

13. The cybersecurity investigation started after allegedly falsified invoices caught administrators’ attention, and the Awans’ lawyers blamed members.

No one has been charged for “unauthorized access” or falsified invoices, and Imran’s court date has been postponed five times. It is now scheduled for May 4, 2018.

14. The Awans’ relatives, colleagues and tenants say they would ‘do anything for money’

Their own stepmother alleges they wiretapped, extorted her and held her captive.

15. Imran’s own wife, Hina Alvi, filed a lawsuit in Pakistan in September 2017 alleging he controlled Hina with violent threats

Wasserman Schultz said police might be Islamophobic, but Imran was the subject of repeated calls to police by multiple Muslim women.

As an aside, this appears to be the biggest political scandal in the history of the country. Never before has an outgoing administration attempted to fix a presidential election. BEST SCREW-UP EVER: Democrats File Hilariously Ill-Fated Lawsuit Against Trump Campaign for "Collusion"

DougRoss - Sat, 04/21/2018 - 01:09

Today, the Democratic National Committee filed a wide-ranging, partisan civil lawsuit in federal court against the Trump Campaign, WikiLeaks, and the Russian Government. In response, Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. notes that this frivolous lawsuit is a last-ditch effort to substantiate the baseless Russian collusion allegations by a nearly-bankrupt Democratic Party still trying to counter the will of the people in the 2016 presidential election. This civil lawsuit is completely without merit and will be dismissed in due time.

“This is a sham lawsuit about a bogus Russian collusion claim filed by a desperate, dysfunctional, and nearly insolvent Democratic Party,” said Brad Parscale, Campaign Manager of Donald J. Trump for President, Inc. “With the Democrats’ conspiracy theories against the President’s campaign evaporating as quickly as the failing DNC’s fundraising, they’ve sunk to a new low to raise money, especially among small donors who have abandoned them. There is a great deal the American public wants to know about the corruption of the Democrats, their collusion to influence the 2016 presidential election, and their role in prompting a scam investigation of the Trump Campaign. While this lawsuit is frivolous and will be dismissed, if the case goes forward, the DNC has created an opportunity for us to take aggressive discovery into their claims of ‘damages’ and uncover their acts of corruption for the American people,” he concluded.

If this lawsuit proceeds, the Trump Campaign will be prepared to leverage the discovery process and explore the DNC’s now-secret records about the actual corruption they perpetrated to influence the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. Everything will be on the table, including:

  • How the DNC contributed to the fake dossier, using Fusion GPS along with the Clintn Campaign as the basis for the launch of a phony investigation.
  • Why the FBI was never allowed access to the DNC servers in the course of their investigation into the Clinton e-mail scandal.
  • How the DNC conspired to hand Hillary Clinton the nomination over Bernie Sanders.
  • How officials at the highest levels of the DNC colluded with the news media to influence the outcome of the DNC nomination.
  • Management decisions by Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Donna Brazile, Tom Perez, and John Podesta; their e-mails, personnel decisions, budgets, opposition research, and more. [Editor's Note: Please include the DNC Chairman's decisions regarding the Awan Brothers in the discovery process.]

MARK LEVIN: Comey is "Like a Bad Rash" for Democrats

DougRoss - Fri, 04/20/2018 - 00:04
By Chris Pandolfo

Thursday on the radio, LevinTV host Mark Levin broke down the latest news about former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe and his criminal referral to prosecutors, former FBI Director James Comey’s involvement with McCabe’s leaks, and the upcoming inspector general report on leaks from the Clinton email investigation.

“Comey is like a bad rash,” Levin said. “You know that? He’s like poison ivy. You just have trouble getting rid of him.”

He also wondered when Hillary Clinton will be investigated.

“When is the Hillary Clinton shoe going to drop?” Levin asked. “She is the most guilty party. She committed more felonies than anybody involved in any of this!”

“The fact is, Comey covered for Hillary Clinton, he protected Hillary Clinton.”

FULL TEXT: Criminal Referral of Hillary Clinton, Loretta Lynch, James Comey and Others by Congress

DougRoss - Thu, 04/19/2018 - 01:03
Sara Carter breaks today's big #Obamagate news: 11 members of Congress have made criminal referrals to the Department of Justice on Hillary Clinton, Loretta Lynch, James Comey, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee member Rep. Ron DeSantis, R-Florida, along with ten other colleagues sent the letter Wednesday to Sessions and FBI Director Christopher Wray [making the criminal referrals]...

...“We write to refer the following individuals for investigation of potential violation(s) of federal statutes,” states the letter obtained by this reporter. “In doing so, we are especially mindful of the dissimilar degrees of zealousness that has marked the investigations into Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the presidential campaign of Donald Trump, respectively. Because we believe that those in positions of high authority should be treated the same as every other American, we want to be sure that the potential violations of law outlined below are vetted appropriately...”

...Lynch was referred after concerns were made regarding her decision to threaten with reprisal the former FBI informant, William Douglas Campbell, who first came forward in 2016 with insight into the sale of the Canadian firm Uranium One, which controlled nearly 20 percent of uranium mining interests in the United States, as previously reported...

...As for Strzok and Page, the two FBI employees at the center of the Congressional investigations, the lawmakers seek the criminal referral based on the pairs “interference in the Hillary Clinton investigation regarding her use of a personal email server,” as reported.
The full text of the Congressional referral letter reads as follows:

The Honorable Jeff Sessions
Attorney General
U.S. Department of Justice
950 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20530

The Honorable Christopher Wray
Federal Bureau of Investigation
935 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW
Washington, DC 20535

The Honorable John Huber
United States Attorney for the District of Utah
The United States Attorney's Office — District of Utah
111 South Main Street
Salt Lake City, UT 84111

Dear Attorney General Sessions, Director Wray, and Mr. Huber:

We write to refer the following individuals for investigation of potential
violation(s) of federal statutes. In doing so, we are especially mindful of the dissimilar
degrees of zealousness that has marked the investigations into Former Secretary of State
Hillary Clinton and the presidential campaign of Donald Trump, respectively. Because
we believe that those in positions of high authority should be treated the same as every
other American, we want to be sure that the potential violations of law outlined below are
vetted appropriately.

1. Former FBI Director James Comey.

On July 5, 2016, Comey made a statement on the investigation of Secretary
Hillary Clinton's use of a personal e-mail system, during which he stated: "...there is
evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly
classified information."1 He went on to say: "Although there is evidence of potential
violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information, our judgment is
that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case."2 Incredibly, this judgment
appears to have been made prior to interviewing Secretary Clinton and as many as 17 key
witnesses including Clinton's closest aides.3 Comey's decision to not seek charges
against Clinton's misconduct suggests improper investigative conduct, potentially
motivated by a political agenda. Accordingly, we refer James Carney to DOJ for
potential violation(s) of: 18 USC 1505 and 1515b.

In addition to his handling of the Clinton investigation, Comey engaged in
questionable conduct vis-à-vis President Donald Trump. As reported by The New York
Times, Director Comey wrote memoranda detailing alleged conversations between
himself and President Trump, creating "a paper trail" for "documenting what he
perceived as the president's improper efforts to influence a continuing investigation."4
The article reports that Comey "created similar memos — including some that are
classified — about every phone call and meeting he had with the president."

As detailed in a January 3, 2018, letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod
Rosenstein from the Hon. Charles E. Grassley (Chairman of the Senate Committee on the
Judiciary), committee staff reviewed the memoranda created by former Director Comey
in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility due to the classified nature of the
majority of the memos; of the seven memos, four were marked classified at the

At a June 8, 2017, U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence hearing, Comey
stated: "I asked a friend of mine to share the content of the memo with the reporter."6
Chairman Grassley's aforementioned letter further notes that Professor Daniel Richman
of Columbia Law School was the friend and that Mr. Comey provided him with four of
the seven memoranda, encouraging him to detail the memos to the press.

In light of the fact that four of the seven memos were classified, it would appear
that former Director Comey leaked classified information when sharing these memos
with Professor Richman. Accordingly, we refer James Comey to DOJ for potential
violation(s) of: 18 USC 641, 18 USC 793, and 18 USC 1924(a).

Furthermore, President Trump has raised concerns with former Director Comey
misleading Congress under oath on his decision not to charge former Secretary of State
Hillary Clinton regarding her use of a private email server for official government

As reported by The Washington Post, on May 2, 2017, Comey circulated a draft
statement on his decision: "Comey sends an email to Andrew McCabe, his deputy, James
A. Baker, the FBI general counsel, and James Rybicki, his chief of staff, with a subject
heading of 'Midyear Exam.' This was internal FBI code for the Clinton investigation.
The body of the email was redacted by the FBI, but it appears to have contained a draft of
his statement on the conclusion of the Clinton case. At that point, 17 interviews with
potential witnesses had not taken place, including with Clinton and her chief of
staff, according to the Senate Judiciary Committee."7

Furthermore, on September 28, 2016, during a hearing before the House Judiciary
Committee, former Director Comey replied "After," following Rep. John Ratcliffe (TX-
04)'s question on the timing of Comey's decision: "Director, did you make the decision
not to recommend criminal charges relating to classified information before or after
Hillary Clinton was interviewed by the FBI on July the 2?"8

Finally, in an April 28, 2017, letter to former Director Comey, Chairman Grassley
stated that there "appear to be material inconsistencies between the description of the
FBI's relationship with Mr. Steele that you [then FBI Director Comey] did provide in
your briefing and information contained in Justice Department documents made available
to the Committee only after the briefing."9

Accordingly, we refer James Carney to DOJ for potential violation(s) of: 18 USC
1621 and 18 USC 1001.

2. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

A lawyer representing the Clinton campaign and the Democratic National
Committee paid Washington firm Fusion GPS to conduct research that led to the Steele
dossier, according to an October 24, 2017, report in The Washington Post

Accordingly, for disguising payments to Fusion GPS on mandatory disclosures to
the Federal Election Commission, we refer Hillary Clinton to DOJ for potential
violation(s) of: 52 USC 30121 and 52 USC 30101.

3. Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

With regard to Former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, we raise concerns
regarding her decision to threaten with reprisal the former FBI informant who tried to
come forward in 2016 with insight into the Uranium One deal.''

Accordingly, we refer Loretta Lynch to DOJ for potential violation(s) of: 18 USC
1505 and 1515b.

4. Former Acting Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe.

With regard to Former Acting Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe, as reported
by The New York Times, Attorney General Jeff Sessions has said that, during the internal
Hillary Clinton investigation, Mr. McCabe "lacked candor including under oath — on
multiple occasions." 12 The report went on to say, "That is a fireable offense, and Mr.
Sessions said that career, apolitical employees at the F.B.I. and Justice Department
agreed that Mr. McCabe should be fired."I3

Furthermore, the DOJ Office of the Inspector General recently released a
February 2018 misconduct report titled "A Report of Investigation of Certain Allegations
Relating to Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe," confirming four instances of
McCabe's lack of candor, including three instances under oath, as well as the conclusion
that McCabe's decision to confirm the existence of the Clinton Foundation Investigation
through an anonymously sourced quote violated the FBI's and DOJ's media policy and
constituted misconduct.I4

Accordingly, we refer Andrew McCabe for potential violation(s) of: 18 USC
1001, 18 USC 1621, and 18 USC 1505.

5. FBI Agent Peter Strzok and FBI Counsel Lisa Page.

With regard to top counterintelligence FBI agent, Peter Strzok, and senior FBI
lawyer Lisa Page, we raise concerns regarding their interference in the Hillary Clinton
investigation regarding her use of a personal email server.

As The Wall Street Journal reported on January 22, 2018, following the Justice
Department's second release of text exchanges between Strzok and Page, "the latest texts
show the FBI also eliminated evidence that Mrs. Clinton compromised high-level
communications."15 The report provides the following alarming specifics, among others:
"Mr. Strzok texts Ms. Page to tell her that, in fact, senior officials had decided to water
down the reference to President Obama to 'another senior government official.' By the
time Mr. Carney gave his public statement on July 5, both references—to Mr. Obama and
to 'another senior government official'—had disappeared."16

Accordingly, we refer Peter Strzok and Lisa Page for potential violation(s) of: 18
USC 1505 and 1515b.

6. Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI personnel connected to the
compilation of documents on alleged links between Russia and then-
presidential candidate Donald Trump known as the "Steele dossier,"
including but not limited to Former FBI Director James Comey, Former
Acting Director of the FBI Andrew McCabe, Former Acting Attorney
General Sally Yates, and former Acting Deputy Attorney General Dana

With regard to the Steele dossier, we raise concerns regarding the presentation of
false and/or unverified information to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court in
connection with the former Trump aide Carter Page warrant application to conduct
surveillance through the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

As Rep Devin Nunes, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, states in a
March 1, 2018, letter to Attorney General Jeff Sessions: "Former and current DOJ and
FBI leadership have confirmed to the Committee that unverified information from the
Steele dossier comprised an essential part of the FISA applications related to Carter

Accordingly, we refer to DOJ all DOJ and FBI personnel responsible for signing
the Carter Page wan-ant application that contained unverified and/or false information for
possible violation(s) of: 18 USC 242 and 18 USC 1505 and 1515b.

Thank you for your attention to these matters.

Protesters voice displeasure at border wall construction site (from Mexico side) during DHS secretary’s visit [photos]

Twitchy - Wed, 04/18/2018 - 20:43

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen visited a border wall construction site in Calexico, California today:

DHS Secretary Arrives At New Portion Of Border Wall In Calexico.

During the visit, a few dozen protesters on the Mexico side voiced their displeasure:

A group of protesters has arrived in the Mexico side of the border. They’re wearing fluorescent yellow shirts, whistling, chanting and carrying a banner that reads in Spanish, “no to the wall.”

— Rebecca Plevin (@rebeccaplevin) April 18, 2018

.@SecNielsen was at the Calexico border for less than 15 minutes. Her visit was punctuated by about 50 protesters who whistled and chanted, “no al muro,” or, “no to the wall.” They remained at the edge of the construction area after she left. @MyDesert

As the wall goes up the protesters on the other side will be far less visible.

Update: The DHS secretary’s visit ended early because protesters began trespassing, thereby making an important unintentional point:

Texas State student pens ‘racist nonsense’ about black conservative Antonia Okafor

Twitchy - Tue, 04/17/2018 - 22:28

It takes some serious wokeness to denounce conservative “tokenism” by spewing racism, but SJWs are always up to the challenge.

Texas State public relations senior Temi Ikudayisi seems to have a problem with black conservative and Second Amendment advocate Antonia Okafor being invited by the college’s Turning Point USA chapter to speak on campus, so Ikudayisi hiked up those SJW pants and banged out this piece of hot garbage for the University Star, Texas State’s “independent student newspaper”:

When you are a student of color and you are a vocal conservative, you will be attacked as a “token”

This is a horribly racist statement published in the @TxStateBobcats student newspaper

The campus left has become more racist than the enemy they pretend to wish to destroy

— Charlie Kirk (@charliekirk11) April 17, 2018

Higher resolution of my university's garbage newspaper for anyone with the stomach for racist nonsense:

— Gabriel Leitao (@GabLeitao) April 17, 2018

That’s indeed pretty gross.

We invite speakers based on their talent, hardwork, intelligence, and wit not their skin color or ethnicity. To say otherwise undermines the incredible people that millions of people across the country admire.

— TPUSA at Texas State (@txsttpusa) April 17, 2018

Appears @txst is making us anything but proud once again, some how the faculty can’t get control of the continued racism. They want to discount a strong, educated & well spoken guest speaker @antonia_okafor as a “token” minority who is pro #2A. @txsttpusa fight the good fight!

— Austin Talley (@Austinfor45) April 17, 2018

Here’s what Okafor had to say:

Glad that Texas State University & the Democratic Party are properly educating their students on what the word “tokenism” means.

— Antonia Okafor (@antonia_okafor) April 17, 2018

The good thing is that next time a Texas State professor’s giving a lesson on racism, all he or she needs to do is hold up that piece as a perfect example.

And that is the "tolerant" and "compassionate" crowd.

— Michael (@Michael2014abc) April 17, 2018

Once again #txst has shown that it doesn’t welcome true diversity, they will always find a way to insult and undermine even the most talented and hard working people that disagree with them.

— TPUSA at Texas State (@txsttpusa) April 17, 2018

The racism that was shown in the @UniversityStar article that calls Antonia Okafor a “token” is obvious to everyone but those that preach “diversity” the most on our campus.

— TPUSA at Texas State (@txsttpusa) April 17, 2018

Ironically this piece is based in actual racism and prejudice. The author judges Antonia on her skin color rather than the merits of her arguments. This is unmasked every time a member of a minority group wakes up to Leftist dogma…

— Dave Rubin (@RubinReport) April 17, 2018

Happens every time! The biggest threat is minorities actually thinking for themselves.

As Twitchy told you earlier, the IRS’ website went down in spectacular fashion. On Tax Day, of course. They deserve every kick and punch of the beating that they’re getting. But Politico seems to think people are being too hard on them. Well, not people, per se … just Republicans:

IT’S HAPPENING: MSNBC’s Ari Melber DROP KICKS James Comey over his impeachment comment

Twitchy - Tue, 04/17/2018 - 14:01

As we told you on Sunday, probably the most newsworthy part of James Comey’s interview with Clinton hack George Stephanopoulos was when the former FBI director said that President Donald Trump should not be impeached and that the voters should ultimately decide his fate.

Here’s the clip again ICYMI:

James Comey: Trump shouldn't be impeached. He should be voted out.

— Axios (@axios) April 16, 2018

We predicted that this wouldn’t go over very well with the Left, and we’re starting to see some pushback.

Here’s MSNBC’s Ari Melber with the metaphorical drop kick:

Bob Mueller's probe is far from complete, but James Comey is now prejudging the outcome and potential response. It's like 2016, but for 2018.

— Ari Melber (@AriMelber) April 17, 2018

Watch Melber’s segment here where he criticizes Comey for, once again, “inserting himself in an open probe without all the facts”:

By ruling out potential “impeachment” before Mueller even finishes his investigation, James Comey is again inserting himself in an open probe without all the facts.

Ari Melber’s special report:

— TheBeat w/Ari Melber (@TheBeatWithAri) April 17, 2018

Melber is correct here. As a law enforcement officer, why would Comey care about the politics of it at all?
