What to Expect in 2017

2017 Expectations

Some people are nervous after the contentious 2016 presidential election. They are worried and fearful for 2017. Who wouldn't be considering how the media and some politicians have crafted a narrative of Donald Trump as a racist, misogynist, xenophobic, homophobic mad man hell bent on destruction? But what is the truth? The truth is, Trump like most of his pro-American supporters is pragmatic. Unlike both the Democratic and Republican parties his concerns aren't the promotion of long held party ideologies but rather a basic concern of making America great again for everyone.

This isn't supposed to be a ra-ra cheer article for Trump but rather a reassurance to those who may have bought into all the fake news out there that implies we are on the brink of apocalypse. Your daily life will go on. You will love your family and friends. You will spend time laughing and having good times. The world will continue as it has before; with the occasional tragedy or the possibility of violence from violent people. The difference is, we will have someone who didn't run for president to make money or build a "legacy" (since Trump already had those things and in fact has probably diminished those aspects of his life by running for president). And during all the border wall building and international negotiations and tough talk against over priced elements of our government, perhaps your life will improve. You may find more employment opportunities. You may see crime decrease. You may see human relations improve because less effort will be spent on dividing people by race or class.

In 2017 you should expect to enter a new era where the masks come off. No more pretending people are always non-offense; because face it people do and say things with which we don't always agree. But that's part of being free and living in liberty. You should expect to see less talk about "democracy" which is a form of mob rule that typically behaves more like a bunch of jealous school girls trying to get revenge on each other and instead restore the true American Republic. In 2017 you should expect to be surprised that you actually fell for the media trying to paint your fellow Americans as "angry white males". We all should be done being manipulated. We should be done pretending everything is always a political correct human resources lecture and instead come to grips with the fact we really are diverse humans with a multitude of backgrounds but that the one thing that binds us together is our love not of some meme or selfie induced comma but our love of Americanism which is pure individualism paired with liberty.

Let's make 2017 the year we stop allowing politicians to tell us we must vote for them because their gender or because of the color of their skin or because they somehow think it's their turn. And this is what many of Trump's detractors fear the most. If Trump is successful, he will demonstrate a few important points:

  1. We can co-exist with diversity as long as we uphold the rights of the individual, rather than groups or classes of people. No more black vs white or rich vs poor or male vs female or any other class the politicians dream up to divide us so as to garner election topics.
  2. We can be and should be proud of our unique American heritage instead of denouncing it as "populism" or jingoism.
  3. We can heal our wounds by talking about them openly and honestly instead of accusing people of being "angry".
  4. We can be rich, not just monetarily but in culture and technology and ideas and it need not result in elitism or guilt.

In 2017, expect to be America again, expect to be American again! No more apologies or bowing or fake red lines in the sand. No more propping up false allies. No more coddling murderers and calling them "moderates". 2017 is going to be REAL!
